Dis-Chem Pharmacies offers a Dispensary Support Learnership Programme designed to train individuals to become Basic Pharmacist Assistants. Participants are employed in a fixed-term position as Dispensary Support until they are registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as learner basic assistants. Upon qualification, permanent employment may be offered.

Responsibilities

• Medication Preparation: Assist with the compounding, manipulation, or preparation of non-sterile medicines according to approved formulas and Standard Operating Procedures
• Stock Management: Assist with unpacking and merchandising stock, cleaning dispensary and over-the-counter (OTC) shelves, and managing stock levels and expiry dates for Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medicines
• Prescription Handling: Learn to accurately interpret prescriptions, ensure correct picking, packing, labeling, and checking of medication, and ensure all medications are checked for accuracy by a pharmacist
• Patient Interaction: Follow up with patients regarding script tracking reports and appointments, assist with call center scripts and patient service telephone calls, and provide information to promote health

Qualifications

• Education: Grade 12 (Matric) with at least 50% in Pure Mathematics, Life Sciences, or Physical Sciences
